Factors such as exhaustion, chronic stress, and simply the natural aging process can greatly affect the appearance of one’s upper facial region. Some of the most common aesthetic concerns that can manifest as a result of these elements include deep forehead creases, conspicuous lines and wrinkles, sagging brow skin, and furrows between the eyebrows. At 740 Park Plastic Surgery, Stafford R. Broumand, MD offers brow lift surgery for individuals seeking to rejuvenate their forehead and upper facial area. Also known as a forehead lift, this facial procedure can help significantly diminish—or even eliminate—various aging concerns with natural-looking, long-lasting results. In addition, a brow lift may also be able to help improve obstructed vision for individuals who have excessively heavy brow and upper eyelid skin.
What Can a Brow Lift Do for Me?
In addition to lifting skin on the forehead to achieve a smoother, rejuvenated appearance, a brow lift can be personalized to address several other concerns that may result from a drooping brow. Depending on your particular needs and goals, brow lift surgery may be able to help:
- Diminish deep lines, wrinkles, creases, and crow’s feet
- Eliminate furrows between the eyebrows
- Reposition the eyebrows to a more desirable location
- Improve an “angry” and/or “tired” appearance
- Relieve tension in the forehead muscles
- Raise heavy upper eyelids for improved vision
As an added benefit, a brow lift can often be easily performed in conjunction with other treatments, such as facelift surgery and blepharoplasty. By combining these procedures, patients can generally achieve a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation with exceptional results.

The Brow Lift Procedure
At our practice, Dr. Broumand utilizes an endoscopic technique performed through tiny incisions hidden in the hairline for all brow lift surgeries. During treatment, the skin is gently raised around the forehead, and muscles underneath the skin are carefully elevated and tightened. Once this is complete, the skin is redraped and pulled taut, and any extra tissues are excised. If needed and/or desired, the eyebrows can also be repositioned for an ideal outcome. On average, endoscopic brow lift surgery takes approximately one hour to complete, but this timeframe may vary depending on whether or not the treatment is combined with another facial rejuvenation procedure.
Brow Lift Recovery
Some minor bruising and/or swelling may be present immediately after brow lift surgery, but these side effects often resolve within a few days. Though rare, any pain and/or discomfort experienced during recovery can typically be managed with medication. The majority of individuals are able to return to normal, non-strenuous jobs and daily routines within about one to two weeks, but our doctor often recommends avoiding any heavy lifting or vigorous activity for a minimum of four weeks to help ensure proper healing. For patients whose brow lift was combined with a complementary facial procedure, recovery and downtime may be a bit longer.
Since incisions are concealed in the hairline, any potential scarring from brow lift surgery is virtually invisible. Results are often apparent relatively quickly, and they should continue to improve as bruising and/or swelling subsides. Ultimately, patients can expect a natural-looking, long-lasting outcome.
