Injectables
Many individuals can diminish signs of aging and rejuvenate the appearance of their face without the need for surgical procedures and the associated downtime. With cosmetic injectables and dermal fillers, our Harvard-trained, board-certified plastic surgeon— Stafford R. Broumand, MD—can smooth fine lines and wrinkles; reduce deep creases and folds; and add volume to areas such as the cheeks, midface, temples, and lips. In addition, several of these treatments can also be employed to help rejuvenate the appearance of the hands, diminish lines and bands on the neck, and even prevent excessive sweating in various regions of the body.
At 740 Park Plastic Surgery, Dr. Broumand utilizes a special technique known as the Dermasculpt® Microcannula to help maximize patient comfort during injectable treatments. The Dermasculpt® Microcannula uses a hollow, ultra-fine instrument and diamond-tip needle to deliver the injectable solution gently underneath the skin. As a result, patients generally do not require a topical anesthetic, and virtually no pain, bruising and/or downtime is typically experienced. Depending on the number of areas being addressed, most injectable treatments take about 30 minutes or less to administer, allowing many patients to receive treatment on their lunch break.
If you are interested in cosmetic injectables and dermal fillers, the treatment options listed below can help you determine which injectable may be right for your needs. BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic is designed to relax targeted muscles underneath the skin, effectively reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles in the treatment area. This popular injectable can be used to diminish crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, creases between the eyebrows, and various other fine lines found on the face with results lasting about three to four months. Touch-up treatments will generally be necessary to maintain the effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic.
BOTOX® for Excessive Sweating
BOTOX® injections are not simply for cosmetic concerns. This innovative treatment can also be used to help prevent excessive sweating—medically known as hyperhidrosis—in the hands, feet, and underarms. Once administered, BOTOX® temporarily blocks nerves from sending chemical signals to the sweat glands in the targeted area, effectively stopping sweat from forming in the treatment location. The results can often last up to eight months or longer, and the effects can be sustained with follow-up treatments.
XEOMIN®
Similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, XEOMIN® works by temporarily relaxing muscles in the targeted region, inhibiting them from contracting to form lines and wrinkles. This advanced injectable treatment can often be an excellent option for reducing the appearance of fine lines, crow’s feet, creases on the forehead, and furrows between the eyebrows. Results from XEOMIN® generally last up to four months, though occasional touch-up treatments can help prolong the procedure’s rejuvenative effects.
JUVÉDERM® Ultra and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus
Composed of hyaluronic acid (HA)—which is found naturally in the body—JUVÉDERM® Ultra and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus work to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The unique JUVÉDERM® Ultra formula allows for great versatility in augmenting various areas of the face, and the stronger JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus formula can be effective for deeper wrinkles and furrows, such as the nasolabial folds. Depending on where the injections are administered, the results of these treatments generally last about six months or longer, after which time touch-up treatments may be necessary.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC is currently the only hyaluronic acid-based filler that is FDA-approved to address signs of aging in the cheeks and midface of patients at least 21 years of age. This revolutionary treatment can add volume and fullness to the midfacial region while also helping to smooth lines and wrinkles. In clinical studies, results achieved with JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC have often proved to last up to two years, sometimes longer.
JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC
Approved by the FDA for patients 22 and older, JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is a state-of-the-art injectable designed to subtly augment the lips for improved fullness and definition. In addition, this filler can help soften the appearance of lines around the mouth for a rejuvenated aesthetic. Unlike other injectables of its kind, JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is clinically proven to produce results that last up to a year—if not longer—for many patients, making it an ideal option for numerous individuals seeking to non-surgically enhance lip volume and/or minimize perioral lines.
JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC
JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC is a next-generation HA filler designed to smooth the appearance of moderate to severe folds and creases. Approved by the FDA for patients at least 21 years of age, this injectable is singularly beneficial for treating nasolabial folds extending from the nose to the sides of the mouth. In clinical trials, the results of JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC proved to last up to 18 months for the majority of individuals, distinguishing it as the longest-lasting filler treatment for nasolabial folds available today.
BELOTERO BALANCE®
Also composed of hyaluronic acid, BELOTERO BALANCE® has a soft, thin consistency that can often be effective for treating fine lines, crow’s feet, vertical frown lines, and lines found between the mouth and nose. In addition, it can help give the lips a fuller, more pronounced appearance. Results from BELOTERO BALANCE® typically last approximately six to nine months, and touch-up treatments may be necessary to prolong the filler’s effects.
Restylane®
Composed of a hyaluronic acid-based solution, Restylane® can often be an excellent option for diminishing wrinkles and creases—including nasolabial folds and marionette lines—as well as adding volume to thin lips. The effects of Restylane® tend to last about six months to a year, after which time treatment can be repeated to maintain ideal results.
RADIESSE®
The RADIESSE® solution is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres that support collagen growth in the skin. This innovative filler can be used to smooth nasolabial folds and frown lines, as well as to augment the cheeks. Results from RADIESSE® commonly last at least a year, and they can be maintained with touch-up treatments, if desired.
Sculptra® Aesthetic
Sculptra® Aesthetic is a poly-L-lactic acid-based injectable designed to address volume loss in areas such as the cheeks, temples, and around the eyes, as well as to fill deep facial wrinkles and creases. Results from Sculptra® Aesthetic are generally long-lasting, sometimes remaining visible for up to two years. To maintain the filler’s effects after this time, touch-up treatments may be needed.
KYBELLA®
Comprised of a deoxycholic acid-based solution, KYBELLA® is currently the only FDA-approved procedure designed to reduce the appearance of a double chin through non-surgical, minimally invasive means. Following a series of two to six treatments, this revolutionary technique can help significantly diminish—or even eliminate—submental fat for an enhanced chin profile and rejuvenated aesthetic.
Revived Liquid Facelift
For some people, a traditional facelift may not be necessary to comprehensively address their facial cosmetic concerns. The liquid facelift is a procedure that utilizes injectables and dermal fillers to non-surgically reduce various signs of facial aging. For qualified patients, this technique can help treat sagging skin, loss of cheek bone definition, moderate to severe lines and wrinkles, a wilting brow, hollowing of the temples, and a number of other aesthetic concerns. Depending on the patient’s unique needs and goals, a customized variety of injectable treatments will be employed to achieve a more youthful, revitalized appearance. The results from a liquid facelift can last six months to a year or more, and the effects can generally be maintained with periodical touch-up treatments.
Lip Augmentation and Contouring
Lip augmentation can often be a great option for individuals who feel their lips are too thin and/or undefined. Using fillers, fat injections, or a customized combination of both techniques, our doctor can add volume, improve definition, and enhance the overall shape of the lips with exceptionally natural-looking results. Following the procedure, the effects of treatment usually last six to twelve months—if not longer—and an ideal contour can generally be maintained with periodic follow-up visits thereafter.
